According to statistics, the whole province of Quang Ngai currently has 119 fishing vessels that do not have enough fishing activity dossiers. The area managed by the Sa Ky Port Border Guard Station (including Tinh Khe and An Phu communes) accounts for 106 ships.
Lieutenant Colonel Lam Dinh Hieu - Head of the Sa Ky Port Border Guard Station - said that the unit has established fixed control teams combined with mobile, 24/7 duty to manage fishing vessels anchored at the wharves.
In parallel with the control work at the wharf, the Border Guard Command of Quang Ngai province has synchronously deployed strong measures along the entire sea route. Nearly 50 officers and soldiers were reinforced to key stations and stations to improve the effectiveness of inspection, control and handling of violations. Patrol vessels of Border Guard Squadron 2 were also mobilized, organized patrols, and blocked at river gates, ditches and at sea to promptly detect and prevent fishing vessels from violating.
Colonel Le Thanh Trung - Head of the Professional Affairs Department, Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command said that during the peak period against IUU fishing in October and November, the unit discovered and issued administrative fines for 133 fishing vessels that crossed the border and cut off VMS equipment, with a total amount of more than 17.8 billion VND.
Not stopping at administrative sanctions, in early November, Sa Huynh Border Guard Station (Quang Ngai Border Guard) initiated a criminal case for organizing others to illegally exit the country, related to sending fishing vessels and fishermen to exploit seafood in foreign waters.
Mr. Do Tam Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that in December 2025, the province will continue to review the number of vessels; in particular, propaganda and mobilization work must be carried out continuously and with many new methods to disseminate the spirit of compliance with regulations on fishing in coastal areas.
