On January 1, 2026, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that the locality has decided to allocate budget to give gifts to people with meritorious services to the revolution, social protection beneficiaries and people enjoying retirement benefits in the area.
According to the Prime Minister's decision issued on December 28, Nghe An was supported by the Central Government with nearly 114 billion VND to implement the Party and State's gift-giving policy. The whole province has 86,607 people with meritorious services to the revolution and 198,390 social protection and retiree beneficiaries receiving gifts with a level of 400,000 VND/person, paid in cash.
In addition to the central budget, Nghe An province supports an additional 100,000 VND/person from the local budget. Thus, each beneficiary will receive a total of 500,000 VND on the occasion of the National Party Congress and the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Home Affairs to coordinate with localities to organize the payment to the right beneficiaries, ensuring progress, publicity and transparency. Currently, Nghe An is paying regular allowances to 62,679 beneficiaries, with a total budget of about 200 billion VND per month. In 2025, the province has an additional 297 cases of people with meritorious services and their relatives being granted benefits; 7 martyrs were recognized and awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Fatherland.
In the same year, the locality disbursed one-time allowances and funeral expenses to 6,033 people with meritorious services, relatives of people with meritorious services and people directly involved in the resistance war, with a total amount of more than 105 billion VND. On the occasion of the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, the whole province presented gifts to 157,416 people with meritorious services and relatives of people with meritorious services with an amount of over 50.2 billion VND.
