On April 23, information from Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that it had just issued a decision on the establishment of an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect the mineral activities of enterprises licensed to exploit sand and gravel.
The delegation was led by Mr. Le Quang Huy - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, with the participation of representatives of relevant departments, branches and local authorities.
According to the decision, the delegation will inspect 53 enterprises in Tan Ky, Nghia Dan, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Anh Son, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan districts and Thai Hoa town. The inspection content includes compliance with laws on minerals, land, environment, labor safety, use of explosives, financial - tax obligations and related regulations. The inspection period is from January 1, 2020 to the time of inspection.

The inspection team is responsible for developing a plan to submit to the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment for approval; at the same time, it has the right to request businesses to provide documents, coordinate to clarify violations (if any) and propose handling according to their authority.
Notably, in the inspection list, Thanh Chuong Sand Exploitation, Hotel and Transport Joint Stock Company - a business has just submitted a request to reduce the area of the sand mine in Dong Van commune (Thanh Chuong district) after the people's reflection.
Previously, at the end of March 2025, people in Dong Van commune reported that this company was exploiting outside the licensed mine boundary, causing serious landslides in the Tien Quanh hamlet alluvial plain. The interdisciplinary working group later determined that more than 1,100m2 of landslides were adjacent to the mining area and requested the company to narrow the mine and urgently repair it.
On April 4, 2025, Thanh Chuong Sand Exploitation, Hotel and Transport Joint Stock Company submitted a request to narrow 2.65 hectares of sand mines. Thanh Chuong District People's Committee has assigned Dong Van Commune People's Committee to verify the cause of the landslide for handling according to regulations. Currently, the verification work is still being implemented by the locality.
It is known that at the Tien Quanh hamlet alluvial land, people have set up camps to prevent exploitation activities and requested the authorities to clarify related responsibilities. This comprehensive inspection is expected to contribute to rectifying the situation of illegal sand and gravel mining, affecting people's lives and the natural environment.
