Recently, the Social Insurance Agency (BHXH) of Vietnam Social Security has recorded a situation where some subjects impersonate BHXH officials to approach people, defraud in order to appropriate property with increasingly sophisticated tricks, affecting the rights and financial safety of participants and beneficiaries of BHXH and BHYT policies.
Recently, Ca Mau Provincial Social Insurance received feedback from social insurance and health insurance participants about some subjects calling from phone number 0825.884.702.
The subject called and requested Ms. B to come to the People's Committee of Ly Van Lam ward, Ca Mau province to update the electronic health insurance card for her child who is under 6 years old, when going, bring the Citizen Identity Card and health insurance card of the child (Ms. B is the child's mother).
Ms. B replied that she did not have time to come, so the scammer instructed her to make friends via Zalo, the account name "Nguyen Trung Quan" will support installation on the "electronic social insurance" application.
Ms. B followed the instructions, the fraudster took advantage of Ms. B's trust and withdrew money from Ms. B's bank account for 2,000,000 VND.
After discovering the loss of money in her account, Ms. B reflected that the fraudster instructed her to continue "if you want to get your money back, use another account number to follow the instructions and you will be refunded", Ms. B borrowed her brother's phone and account to do so, then this account continued to be debited 7,800,250 VND (because 1 account number is only allowed to be transacted once).
A total of 2 times, the fraudster withdrew money from people's bank accounts, totaling 9,800,250 VND.
Answering this issue, Vietnam Social Security affirmed: The Social Security agency has no policy of calling or texting to request people to install "electronic social insurance cards" or provide personal information to update data on the VssID - digital social insurance application.
All official information related to social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies is provided through official media channels of the social insurance agency.
Vietnam Social Security continues to recommend units, employees, participants and beneficiaries of social insurance and health insurance policies to raise their vigilance against online scams:
