Lam Dong - Authorities are investigating the incident after an explosion at an illegal quarry left one person seriously injured in Bao Loc city.

On December 29, actual records showed that the scene at the illegal stone mining tunnel was being cordoned off and strictly protected by authorities in Bao Loc city.

To ensure safety for the investigation work of the authorities, the Military Command of Bao Loc city has dispatched forces to inspect and check for explosives at this stone mine.

The work of checking and detecting explosives was carried out carefully and cautiously by the military force to ensure absolute safety.

At the scene, this area is located in a deep depression, about 500m from the main road Le Thi Rieng (village 2, Loc Chau commune) as the crow flies. Surrounding it are local people's production gardens and many houses.

This quarry has an area of ​​over 1,000m2, with an average depth of about 7 - 8m. Besides the large amount of stone that has been mined and transported away from the site, the quarry is still littered with rocks and some machinery.

At the scene, hundreds of cubic meters of large and small quarried stones were lying around. There were many tents set up by the quarrymen to rest during the quarrying process.

In the mining area, there are still traces of vehicles entering and leaving to transport rocks. At the site, there are also engines and excavator buckets. In particular, through records, it is shown that there are many deep holes drilled through large monolithic rocks.

Among them, there are some holes drilled inside suspected of containing explosives. Along with that, at the scene there is also a system of electrical wires, switches pulled large monolithic rocks with drilled holes (suspected to be used for detonation) serving illegal stone mining.

All electrical wiring systems have been inspected and removed by the Military Command of Bao Loc City to ensure safety.

As planned, tomorrow, December 30, 2024, the professional forces of Lam Dong Provincial Police and the Provincial People's Procuracy will be present to coordinate with the functional agencies of Bao Loc city to conduct an examination of the school to serve the investigation related to the explosion and violations related to illegal stone mining.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "Big explosion at illegal stone mine, 1 person seriously injured".

On the morning of December 28, a number of men went to quarry stones in the production garden in village 2, Loc Chau commune, Bao Loc city, owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Ngon. At noon of the same day, while splitting stones, a loud explosion occurred at the rock that Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung (53 years old) was chiseling, causing the victim to be thrown far away.

The explosion seriously injured Mr. Hung, causing his left hand to be crushed, his face and head to suffer many serious injuries...

Afterwards, Mr. Hung was taken to Lam Dong II Hospital by the quarrymen and some local residents for emergency treatment. After first aid by doctors at the hospital, the victim was quickly transferred to Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) for further treatment.

According to the People's Committee of Loc Chau commune, illegal stone mining occurred in Mr. Nguyen Van Ngon's production garden.

After the incident, Bao Loc city authorities were present at the above-mentioned stone mine to examine the scene, serving the investigation to clarify the cause of the incident.
