During the peak period of collecting DNA biopsy samples from relatives of unidentified martyrs in Quang Ninh, taking place from July 10 - 14, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (born in 1948, residing in Viet Hung ward) was taken by relatives to Quang Ninh Provincial General Hospital, facility 2, Hoanh Bo ward, in a wheelchair to take DNA samples.
After the police officer checked her identity card, related documents and compared information, Ms. Hong was instructed to complete the procedures and collect biological samples.
Her DNA sample will be updated into the database to serve the search for information about martyr Nguyen Quang Minh - her only younger brother.
Ms. Hong recounted that her parents had two children, she was the eldest sister, and her younger brother was Nguyen Quang Minh, born in 1950. In 1968, Mr. Minh enlisted and sacrificed himself on the southern battlefield.
In 2000, my eyes began to blur gradually and I could no longer see anything. Now I can only rely on the Party, the State and my brother's comrades to help me find my younger brother. This is also the wish of my life" - Ms. Hong said.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Tung - Deputy Head of Hoanh Bo Ward Police - said that before the peak period took place, the grassroots police force coordinated with local authorities and neighborhoods to review each case of relatives of martyrs in the area. For the elderly, those with weak health or who cannot come to the centralized sample collection point, mobile working groups will come to their homes to assist in procedures and sample collection.
According to the summary, Quang Ninh Provincial Police have coordinated to review the list of 4,435 people, classify and register 3,574 relatives of martyrs according to foreign lineages who are eligible for DNA sample collection.
By the end of July 13, the whole province had collected more than 2,900 DNA samples of relatives of martyrs. Functional forces continued to deploy at the remaining points, and at the same time coordinated to take samples for relatives living outside the province.
In parallel with collecting samples from relatives, the military force of Quang Ninh province excavated and took samples of martyrs' remains at cemeteries in the area.
By the end of July 13, work had been completed at 17/18 cemeteries, collecting 733 samples of martyrs' remains. Mong Cai Martyrs' Cemetery, Mong Cai 3 ward, is the last location to be deployed.
