Traffic police discovered that some passenger cars were carrying more people than allowed, stuffing goods in the passenger compartment, drivers and car owners faced high fines.

The Traffic Police (CSGT) force has just discovered and handled two cases of passenger cars carrying more people than prescribed, even leaving goods in the passenger compartment, posing a potential risk of traffic unsafety on key routes.

Accordingly, after receiving violation feedback via Zalo messages sent to the phone number of the Director of the Traffic Police Department, the Traffic Police Department - Phu Tho Provincial Police directed Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 to quickly inspect and verify.

At 03:11 on February 13, 2026, at Km87+800 National Highway 6 (Thong Nhat ward, Phu Tho province), functional forces stopped to inspect car BKS 27B-004. XX driven by driver L.V. T (born 1983, residing in Lao Cai province). This is a passenger transport business vehicle on the Dien Bien - Yen Bai fixed route with a distance of over 300km.

The inspection results showed that the vehicle violated exactly as people reflected. The driver admitted to carrying more people than prescribed with 55/41 passengers.

Traffic police have made a record of administrative violation against the driver for the act of carrying goods exceeding the outer dimensions of the vehicle, with a fine of 600,000 - 800,000 VND.

In addition, for the act of driving passenger cars on fixed routes for a distance of over 300km but carrying more than the prescribed number of people (55/41 people), drivers are fined from 100,000 - 2,000,000 VND/person for exceeding, with a total maximum not exceeding 75,000 VND. Drivers are also subject to additional penalties of deducting 2 points from the driver's license.

For the vehicle owner who is a Cooperative for transporting passengers, goods and services (address in Thanh Binh ward, Dien Bien province), functional agencies determined that they had handed over the vehicle to a worker to operate and commit the violation, with a fine of 8,000 - 12,000,000 VND.

In addition, vehicle owners who are organizations that cause the act of carrying more people than prescribed will also be fined from 4,000 - 8,000,000 VND/person exceeding, with a total maximum not exceeding 150,000,000 VND.

Currently, the case is being further handled by functional agencies according to the provisions of law.

Previously, at 23:48 on February 10, 2026, at Km259 of the Phap Van - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Highway 45 - Nghi Son expressway, a working group of Highway Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Room 6, Traffic Police Department) conducted an inspection of passenger car with license plate 38H-053. xx.

Through inspection, functional forces discovered that the vehicle was carrying more people than prescribed (39/35 seats) and left goods in the passenger compartment. The working group made a record of administrative violation against driver V.V.T (residing in Huong Khe commune, Ha Tinh); and also made a record against the vehicle owner.

According to the provisions of Decree 168/ND-CP, the total fine for drivers and vehicle owners is 30.7 million VND.
