On December 3, at the meeting with voters to report the results of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City, Mr. Bach Le Thanh - a resident of Hoa Xuan ward, Cam Le district - made a recommendation: "Request the city to soon resolve the investment to clear the land of Da Nang station to solve the flooding in the Me Suot - Hoang Van Thai street area in recent years."
Regarding this issue, Mr. Bui Hong Trung - Director of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City - said: "Vietnam's railway network by 2030 with a vision to 2050 has 3 types. First is high-speed railway, national railway and urban railway, Da Nang has all 3. Therefore, the national railway station (section through Da Nang) will be relocated along with the high-speed railway corridor. Relocating the national railway station in Da Nang out of the inner city will solve traffic congestion as well as have land fund to develop the city".
According to Mr. Trung, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has also reported to the Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister to allow the city to proactively arrange funding sources to build a Pre-Feasibility Study Report to build investment resources and soon relocate Da Nang station. Last September, the city also basically agreed on the locations of the plan to relocate the freight station at Da Nang station to Kim Lien station and the immediate plan is that if the passenger station cannot be invested in according to the new planning, it will be relocated to Trung Nghia.
Mr. Trung also pointed out that if we only focus on investing in high speed without investing in national railway stations, the movement of passengers and goods will face many difficulties. Currently, the Department of Transport of Da Nang City is also working with national financial investment funds of countries around the world to participate in funding research.
The project to relocate the railway station out of the city center was identified in Resolution No. 33 of the Politburo in 2003. However, due to the difficulty of investment resources for railways, the Government prioritized investment in the expressway network, leading to a delay in the relocation of the Da Nang railway station.
