Reporting to Lao Dong Newspaper, people in Tong Vuong village, Phuc Khanh commune said that the water supply project has been abandoned for many years, causing waste of state assets. While people still have to pull water back to use every day.
On April 1, according to the reporter's records in Tong Vuong village, on the clean water supply project, there are only empty tanks, a Vu Vuon system and overgrown grass...

Ms. Lo Thi Thuy (Trong Vuong village) said: "This is not called a water supply project, only the tank is done and thrown away, the water road is done but because there is no water, it is covered. Now no one touches it.
Taking reporters to visit this clean water project, Mr. Hua Van Binh - Head of Tong Vuong village said: "At that time, when the project was being built, people were also excited, hoping that the water would reach each house. But after about a year of using it, there is no more water, now households have to pull the water back for daily use".

According to Mr. Hua Van Binh, the domestic water supply project in Tong Vuong village was invested in construction in the period of 2020-2021, with a capital of about 800 million VND.
The project is invested by Bao Yen District People's Committee. According to the plan, after completion, the project will provide clean water for nearly 50 households living around the area.

On April 1, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Thanh Hoa - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District said: "When the project was put into use, there was no water for a while, from that time the project had to be left empty".
According to Mr. Hoa, at first, when surveying, the water source was still guaranteed. However, in recent years, the water source has run out, and in addition, due to the impact of natural disasters, lack of maintenance and repair, the tank has deteriorated, leading to this project being abandoned and no longer in use. People who want to use it have to pull the water back themselves.

Through review, out of more than 800 domestic water supply projects invested in and built in Lao Cai province, there are currently only more than 200 projects operating effectively.
Bao Yen currently has 51 clean water supply works for rural use, but only 19 works are operating sustainably, the rest are ineffective and abandoned...
The reason is that some works that have been built for a long time have deteriorated and need to be repaired and upgraded; or due to the impact of climate change, some water resources are exhausted, not providing enough domestic water for people.
