Impact, damage to people and property
Since the beginning of the rainy season, heavy rains have continuously occurred, causing some roads to be deeply flooded, some places flooded above the wheels. Some roads in Ho Chi Minh City often encounter this situation such as Ung Van Khiem (Binh Thanh District), Quoc Huong, Do Xuan Hop (Thu Duc City), Nguyen Van Khoi (Go Vap District)...
Doing business on Do Xuan Hop Street (Thu Duc City), Mr. Nguyen Quoc Truyen said: "When I first moved here to do business, I had no experience, so when it rained heavily and the water rose high, I couldn't move my things in time, causing economic losses. Gradually, I hired people to make high shelves and prepared water barriers."
"Every evening, the sky is covered with dark clouds and it rains. The road from my company to my house is flooded and trees often fall down. Therefore, when it rains, I have to wait for it to stop before going home, otherwise it will be very dangerous" - Ms. Le Thuy Hang - living in Binh Thanh district shared.
According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, since the beginning of the year, the city has had 635 broken branches and 401 fallen trees, mainly caused by storms and wind.
Despite increasing the cutting, pruning of branches and the felling and replacement of trees at risk of being unsafe, the situation of tree incidents is still complicated, posing a great risk of causing insecurity to people.
The rainy season ended late
In late October and early November, the rain in Ho Chi Minh City and the South will gradually decrease. According to Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Hydrometeorological Forecasting Division, Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the rainy season ends late and after it ends, there are still continuous unseasonal rains lasting a few days in the area.
From now until December, cold air will continuously strengthen in the Southern region. Some days the weather will be chilly at night and early morning with the lowest temperature of 21-24 degrees Celsius.
Regarding high tides, water levels at most stations in the downstream of the Saigon - Dong Nai River and rivers in the Southwest region are likely to rise slowly following the high tides of early October (Lunar calendar) in the coming days. The peak tides are likely to occur on November 2-4.
