On the evening of September 7, the People's Committee of Phong Nha commune (Quang Tri province) said that a local resident had just died while burning a acacia field.
At about 2:00 p.m. the same day, Mr. H.T.L (born in 2019, residing in Chay Lap village, Phong Nha commune) went to his family's acacia forest about 500m from his house to clear the branches after exploitation and burn them to prepare for new planting. While burning, Mr. L unfortunately fainted, the fire quickly spread, causing him to die on the spot.
At around 4:00 p.m., relatives discovered the incident and brought the victim's body to the family for burial according to local customs.
The Phong Nha commune government has sent officials to visit and encourage the family, and at the same time advised people to be cautious when using fire in agricultural and forestry production, especially in hot, dry and flammable conditions.
