On the morning of July 15, the government of Chi Lang commune, Lang Son province said that functional forces had just supported the search and brought the body of a resident who had an accident while picking custard apple on the mountain to his family.
The victim is Mr. H.V. Q (born in 1967), residing in Than Muoi village, Chi Lang commune.
At about 7 pm on July 14, the Military Command of Chi Lang commune received a report from people about Mr. Q. going to work in the garden from morning but not returning, and the family could not contact him.
Immediately after that, the unit mobilized officers, staff and local militia forces, coordinated with the police and people to organize the search.
At about 8:50 pm on the same day, functional forces brought the victim's body from the high mountain area to his house.
According to initial information, Mr. Q.'s family has about 1 hectare of custard apple cultivation with hundreds of trees on Cai Kinh mountain, about 2 km from home.
On the morning of July 14, he went to the mountains alone to visit the garden, pick early-season custard apples and spray pesticides to prevent pests and diseases.
Because the garden is far from residential areas, the terrain is steep and difficult to travel, Mr. Q. prepared lunch at a shack in the middle of the garden.
At nearly 7 pm, not seeing her husband return, Mr. Q.'s wife called many times. The phone still rang but no one answered, so the family panicked and reported to the authorities and functional forces.
When they arrived at the custard apple garden, everyone discovered Mr. Q. lying motionless next to an area with a lot of soil and rocks and a large rock. The victim was seriously injured in the head and had died before that.
Preliminary assessment, while working in the garden, Mr. Q. may have been hit by a rock rolling from above.
In recent days, heavy rain has appeared in Lang Son, causing soil and rocks on the mountainsides to be at risk of losing connection, causing landslides and rock rolling.
On the morning of July 15, the family held a funeral for Mr. Q. Representatives of the government, local agencies and organizations came to visit, share condolences and support the victim's family.
