On September 23, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province sent telegrams to Vinh Loc, Yen Dinh, Hoang Hoa, Thieu Hoa districts, Thanh Hoa city, and Sam Son city about issuing a second alert on the lower Ma river.

The telegram requires these localities to immediately deploy dike patrols and protection according to the alarm levels; organize inspections, reviews and have solutions to ensure the safety of dike works, especially vulnerable dike sections and culverts under the dikes in the area.

Proactively deploy plans to evacuate people living in riverbanks and riverside areas. Organize a 24/7 on-duty team, closely monitor the development of floods and rains to be ready to handle situations from the first hour.

It is known that in the past few days, Thanh Hoa has had very heavy and prolonged rain. Heavy rain has caused hundreds of landslides in the localities; thousands of households were deeply flooded and had to be evacuated to safety.

In addition, floods also caused damage to many public works, houses and crops.

Currently, Thanh Hoa province's functional agencies are urgently mobilizing forces and means to respond and overcome the damage.
