On September 23, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province sent telegrams to Vinh Loc, Yen Dinh, Hoang Hoa, Thieu Hoa districts, Thanh Hoa city, and Sam Son city about issuing a second alert on the lower Ma River. Along with that, a telegram was sent to Ha Trung, Nga Son, and Hau Loc districts about issuing a second alert on the Len River.
Accordingly, the water level of the Ma River is currently rising rapidly. At 4:00 a.m. on September 2, the water level of the Ma River measured at Ly Nhan Hydrological Station was (+10.51m), 0.49m below Alert Level II (BDII +11.00m). It is forecasted that the water level of the Ma River at Ly Nhan Hydrological Station is likely to reach Alert Level II (+11.00m) at around 9-11:00 a.m. the same day.
Faced with the above situation, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province issued a second alert on the lower Ma River, requesting the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Vinh Loc, Yen Dinh, Hoang Hoa, Thieu Hoa districts, Thanh Hoa city, and Sam Son city to immediately deploy dike patrols and dike protection according to the alert levels.
Organize inspections, reviews and have plans to ensure safety for dike works; especially for weak dike sections and culverts under the dike in the area. Proactively implement plans to evacuate people living in riverbanks and riverside areas. Organize 24/7 on-duty staff, closely monitor the development of floods and rains to be ready to handle situations from the first hour.
As for the water level on the Len River, at 4:00 a.m. on September 23, at the Len Hydrological Station, it was (+4.63 m), 0.37 m below the alert level II. The warning states that the Len River water level is likely to reach the alert level II (+5.00 m) at around 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. the same day.
Therefore, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Trung, Nga Son and Hau Loc districts is requested to immediately deploy dike patrols and protection according to the alarm levels.
