On the morning of February 18, a representative of the People's Committee of Thanh Tien commune (Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province) said that a woman had just died from self-immolation in the area.

Initial information said that the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on February 17 in village 2, Thanh Tien commune. At that time, Ms. N.T.M (born in 1964, residing in village 2) used gasoline to self-immolate. When relatives and neighbors discovered it, the woman had died.
After the incident, the police force coordinated with local authorities to conduct a crime scene investigation and complete the necessary procedures. Determining that the incident was not related to a murder, the body was handed over to the family for funeral arrangements.
According to the representative of Thanh Tien Commune People's Committee, Ms. M has lived alone, has been sick for the past 10 years and is receiving social protection. "It is very possible that Ms. M used gasoline to self-immolate because she was bored with the disease" - a representative of Thanh Tien Commune People's Committee informed.
