Dak Lak province has many points on key national highways with the potential risk of landslides, causing traffic disruption during the rainy and stormy season...

According to the Traffic Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the area has not recorded any serious landslides on key national highways connecting Dak Lak with other localities. However, due to unusual weather developments and prolonged heavy rain, there are still many points at risk of landslides on National Highway 26, National Highway 14C, National Highway 19C, National Highway 27, National Highway 29 during the rainy and stormy season.

Recorded in practice on National Highway 27 connecting Dak Lak and Lam Dong - an area with complex terrain, many hills, and winding roads. Every time it is the rainy season, drivers have to move slowly, reduce speed, and pay attention to observe to prevent the risk of landslides that can occur at any time.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Manh (a bus driver running a fixed route from Dak Lak to Lam Dong) shared: "In recent days, every late afternoon, the area of National Highway 27, the section passing through Krong No commune, has often had heavy rain. Therefore, I often drive very slowly, sometimes when climbing mountain passes, I only move at a speed of 20 - 30km/h to ensure the safety of passengers. In addition, during heavy rains, the vehicle must always turn on headlights, fog lights and honk to avoid collisions.

According to Mr. Manh, the above area has many locations that are prone to landslides and weak soil, so when traveling during the rainy season, he has to close his eyes to observe and prevent rocks and soil from falling down to avoid or slow down from a distance.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Tu - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police - commented: "In the locality, during the rainy and stormy season, combined with steep terrain, national highways are at risk of landslides, causing danger to vehicles moving. Every day, the leaders of the Provincial Police and the Traffic Police Department require forces to demonstrate a proactive and timely role in preventing, responding, warning, regulating traffic and supporting the recovery when incidents occur.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tu, implementing the direction from the Ministry of Public Security and the Traffic Police Department, the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) has developed a plan to prevent and combat landslides on key national highways such as National Highway 14, National Highway 26, and National Highway 27.

In particular, the focus is on monitoring steep mountain passes and high slopes that are prone to landslides during the rainy and stormy season. Patrol and control teams must proactively stay close to the area, closely coordinate with local authorities to monitor the situation, and promptly handle the incident from the beginning.

"Traffic police teams continue to maintain a 24/7 combat regime at key points at high risk of landslides. Each patrol team must regularly monitor and have specific plans for each management area, especially the roads that are often cut off when incidents occur, Lieutenant Colonel Tu added.
