Thanh Hoa - After a period of temporary suspension, the largest waste treatment plant in the province has resumed receiving, contributing to stabilizing waste treatment in localities.

On April 14, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment said that the Provincial People's Committee had just issued a document allowing the receipt of domestic waste for treatment at the Southeast Waste Treatment Plant.

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee allows Ecotech Environmental Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (the factory operator) to receive waste from central wards and surrounding areas from April 9.

Along with that, the Provincial People's Committee requests businesses to strictly implement the process of receiving and treating domestic solid waste according to the Environmental Permit and the approved plan; proactively apply technical measures, increase the use of biological products to reduce odors, control insects, and not affect the environment and lives of people in the surrounding area.

In the immediate future, the factory will only receive a maximum of 300 tons of waste/day. After having the inspection and evaluation results of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, if the conditions according to regulations are ensured, it will consider increasing the capacity to a maximum of 500 tons/day.

During operation, if the volume of received waste exceeds the treatment or control capacity, the company must promptly report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Dong Quang Ward People's Committee for handling instructions.

Businesses must also install surveillance camera systems in the waste receiving and treatment area; provide access accounts for Dong Quang Ward People's Committee and community supervision teams to monitor. At the same time, coordinate with local authorities to implement a plan to spray fly-killing preparations, ensuring environmental sanitation in residential areas.

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to inspect and evaluate the waste treatment activities of enterprises before April 24, 2026. The Department of Finance guides wards and communes to remove difficulties in signing service contracts and paying for domestic waste treatment costs.

The central wards of the province and Tien Trang and Quang Yen communes are responsible for notifying collection and transportation units about the time of receiving waste at the Southeast Waste Treatment Plant.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, after the 2026 Lunar New Year, the amount of garbage increased sharply, along with the fact that people in Hanh Phuc Doan residential group (Dong Quang ward) reacted to the pollution situation, preventing garbage trucks from entering the factory, causing garbage collection to be temporarily suspended for a long time.

Up to now, after nearly 2 months of interruption, the factory has been allowed to resume operation.
