According to the Department of Construction of Da Nang City, on March 28, 2022, the City People's Committee approved the adjustment of the detailed planning of TL 1:500 of Khe Can drainage route - from the railway bridge to Phu Loc river, Lien Chieu district, Thanh Khe district (including 2 independent routes). The Infrastructure Project Management Board prioritized as the investor has so far completed the construction of sewer route No. 1.
Due to planning adjustments, the main items, the 7.5m road (on the culvert) and the 5.5m road (connecting to the culvert), invested by the Da Nang Traffic Project Management Board, have been adjusted compared to the original investment policy.
Last June, the Traffic Project Management Board sent a document requesting the Department of Planning and Investment to consider and report to the City People's Committee to agree on the policy of canceling the above project. At the same time, it proposed assigning Thanh Khe district to study urban renovation according to the current status of Khe Can culvert under construction.
On September 18, the City People's Committee held a meeting to hear reports on the implementation of solid waste treatment plant projects and a list of projects that have had investment decisions but have not yet submitted or approved investment projects. In particular, the Project to treat flooding in the area adjacent to the downstream of Khe Can sewer (Nga Ba Hue) phase 2 was assigned to the Project Management Board for investment and construction of traffic works as the investor. The Department of Construction said that after receiving the implementation policy from the City People's Committee, relevant sectors will urgently organize the implementation.
Previously, also in September, the People's Committee of Da Nang City directed the implementation of Official Dispatch 5050/2024 of the Da Nang City Party Committee on urban drainage and flood prevention in the city. Khe Can sewer (branch 2) along Hoang Thi Loan Street, from the current Khe Can sewer to Trung Nghia Lake, will start construction no later than the second quarter of 2025.
During the recent rain (November 5), dozens of households in this area were partially flooded. According to local residents, the Khe Can drainage project in groups 25 and 26 of Thanh Khe Tay ward (Thanh Khe district) has been implemented for more than a month. However, after the drainage construction was basically completed, the ground has not been leveled and concreted for people to move around conveniently. Not only that, the Khe Can drainage project has not been completed, causing water in the drainage to flow back into people's houses. Many people have to equip themselves with pumps to pump water out of their houses.
