Mr. Vu Van Thuan, an excavator driver, said that New Year's Day is not a time for rest for infrastructure construction work.
Every day, Mr. Thuan and his colleagues divide into many working shifts on the construction site: morning from 7am to 11am, afternoon from 1:30pm to 5:30pm and evening shift from 8:00pm to about 4am the next morning.
His main job is to operate excavators to clear ground, clean up materials after dismantling, creating favorable conditions for the next steps of the project.
Working many hours is also hard, but the brothers determine that this is a key traffic project of the city, so everyone tries their best to complete it soon so that people can travel more conveniently," Mr. Thuan said.
At the intersection of Ring Road 1 - Nguyen Chi Thanh and Ring Road 1 - Giang Vo, many machines and workers were also mobilized to deploy the construction of a direct overpass, one of the important items of the project.
Also according to records, within the scope of the Ring Road 1 project, many houses after being trimmed according to the site clearance boundary are continuing to be repaired and re-completed.
Many housing projects that used to be in alleys have now become the frontage of Ring Road 1.
Mr. Do Nguyen (Giang Vo ward) said that to serve the dismantling and repair, his family had to move all furniture to the front of the house, giving up the space behind for construction.
Mr. Nguyen's house is about 10m long, of which more than 1.5m is within the scope of site clearance to serve the project.
This year, my family did not return to my hometown during the New Year holiday, staying to clean up and repair the house, and soon stabilize our lives," Mr. Nguyen said.
The Ring Road 1 construction investment project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, has its starting point at the intersection with Cat Linh - La Thanh - Yen Lang road at Hoang Cau; the ending point at Voi Phuc traffic junction.
The total length of the route is about 2,274km, the cross-section scale is 50m. The total investment of the project is more than 7,200 billion VND. The implementation time is from 2018 but is slow due to site clearance issues.
The total recovered area is about 153,341m2, involving 1,983 households and organizations in Dong Da and Ba Dinh districts before (now O Cho Dua, Giang Vo and Lang wards).
By December 15, 2025, the wards have completed site clearance to hand over to the investor to implement the project.
After completing site clearance, Politburo Member, Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc directed localities with projects passing through to continue to coordinate with the City Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board to clean up and neatly clean the areas that have been cleared to serve construction. According to the plan, the Ring Road 1 project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, will be completed in 2026, expected to contribute to reducing traffic pressure in the inner city area, while creating room for infrastructure development and urban landscape embellishment according to the approved plan.
