On December 1, Tri An Hydropower Company announced the end of releasing water through the spillway to regulate the reservoir.

Accordingly, at 4:00 p.m. on December 1, hydrological information from Tri An Hydropower Reservoir, the upstream water level of the reservoir was 61.182m, the water flow to the reservoir was 710m3/s, the water flow through the spillway was 160m3/s, the water flow through the power turbine was 754 m3/s.

Based on the water flow to Tri An Lake, upstream water levels and discharge information of the above-mentioned hydropower plants, Tri An Hydropower Company stopped discharging water through the spillway from 8:00 a.m. on December 2 with the water flow through the spillway being 0 m3/s.

The water flow through the turbine generates electricity from 450 m3/s to 800 m3/s (equivalent to a capacity of 240MW to 400MW depending on the mobilization method of the National Regulations). The total water flow discharged downstream is from 450 m3/s to 800 m3/s (depending on the mobilization method of the National Regulations).

Depending on weather developments, water flow to the lake, water level of Tri An Hydropower Reservoir, water level downstream at Bien Hoa hydrological station, the company can flexibly regulate the water flow through the spillway.

Previously, on October 19, 2025, when Tri An Hydropower Reservoir closed the spillway, hundreds of people in Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City brought many types of fishing gear such as fishing nets, boats, buoys... to storm down to the foot of the spillway to catch fish.

According to local residents, when Tri An Hydropower Reservoir released floodwaters, fish followed the water to the foot of the spillway. When the dam is closed and the flood discharge is stopped, the water will recede, causing fish to get stuck under the spillway area and people can easily catch fish with a "huge" size and weight, up to more than 10kg.

The types of fish that people catch include many types such as silver carp, giant catfish, yellow catfish, red-tailed catfish, silver carp, black carp...

After that, people sold fish right at the foot of the dam, many people earned millions of dong.

Tri An Hydropower Plant has 4 generators, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate domestic and production water sources, push salinity and regulate floods in downstream areas.
