unsafe intersection with expressway connection road
On May 7, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was present on the access road (connecting road) from National Highway 1 to the North - South expressway, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section in Cam Quan commune (Cam Xuyen district) and noted that at the intersection with National Highway 8C, there was a potential risk of traffic insecurity.

According to observations, the traffic volume on and off the expressway through this connecting road is large, running at a fairly high speed, on National Highway 8C there is a large volume of traffic, running much more continuously.
However, at this intersection, there are no traffic lights and no roundabouts, which can lead to high traffic accidents.

Many people passing through this intersection are worried, expressing their desire to soon install traffic lights or make roundabouts to limit accidents.
At this intersection, at noon on September 6, an accident occurred between a container truck moving onto the highway with an electric motorbike crossing the road. As a result, Ms. Hoang Thi L (residing in Thuy Trieu village, Cam Quan commune) was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized for emergency care.

According to Mr. Pham Van Thanh - Chairman of Cam Quan Commune People's Committee, the road connecting National Highway 1 to the North - South Expressway through Cam Quan Commune has only been open for 1 week but there have been 2 traffic accidents.
According to Mr. Thanh, this route is at the intersection with National Highway 8C with a large traffic volume, so to ensure traffic safety, it is recommended that all levels and sectors install lighting and traffic lights to limit accidents.
Links are incorrect, signs are incomplete
The Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressways have been open to traffic for more than a week, with a large volume of vehicles. However, some locations of signs are unclear and the road markings are inaccurate.
At the National Highway 8 intersection - the connection point between Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway and Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway in Thanh Binh Thinh Commune (Duc Tho District), there is an overpass with 2 lanes. Of which, 1 lane is for vehicles moving from Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway out of the expressway and the remaining lane for vehicles moving into Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway.
However, at the lane to move from the intersection to Bai Vot - Ham Nghi highway, the road marking here is painted in the direction of the vehicle's movement. This caused the driver when circulating from the intersection of Highway 8 to Bai Vot - Ham Nghi highway awkward, afraid that he had run in the opposite direction, the wrong lane.

At the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway intersection with provincial road 548 in the old Trung Loc commune (now Dong Loc town, Can Loc district), there are 2 expressway exits/entrances.
According to many drivers, both entrances to the expressway only have a common sign with the content of "Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway" without knowing which direction to go to the North and which direction to the South, causing drivers to fall into confusion and easily confused.
At the exit of the expressway with the intersection with Provincial Road 550 through Luu Vinh Son Commune (Thach Ha District), the signs point out 2 routes to Ha Tinh City 5km and Ham Nghi Street 4km long.
However, both of these routes are under construction and cannot be moved but there is no system of signs and warning lights, which can easily confuse drivers and make them enter the construction road that has not been completed.

On the afternoon of May 7, Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung - Director of the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang Expressway Project Management Board - said that the unit will conduct a review, then request contractors to install additional signs, directional signs, warning signs... to ensure smooth and safe traffic.
Regarding the location of the intersection between the road connecting to the expressway and National Highway 8C in Cam Quan commune (Cam Xuyen district), Mr. Trung said that the unit is considering installing an island (series) here, and at the same time installing additional signs to limit speed.
