Helping people escape poverty sustainably
According to statistics from the Dliê Ya Commune People's Committee, the locality currently has more than 46,000 people, with 24 village and hamlet heads and 25 people with prestige among ethnic minorities.
The whole commune still has about 970 poor households and about 600 near-poor households; ethnic minorities account for about 28% of the population. Many villages and hamlets in ethnic minority and mountainous areas still face many difficulties.
In 2026, Dlie Ya commune sets a target to reduce the number of multidimensional poor households by 50% according to the plan; reduce the poverty rate by 1.5-2%. The poverty rate in ethnic minority areas alone strives to decrease by about 4%.
To achieve the set goals, in addition to mobilizing and effectively using resources from national target programs, poverty reduction support policies and the general policy of the province, the Dliê Ya commune government especially focuses on promoting the role of reputable people in villages and hamlets.
These are considered "extended arms" of the government at the grassroots level. With the advantage of being close, regularly sticking to the area, understanding the customs, habits, life and thoughts of the people.
In recent years, a team of reputable people has actively propagated and mobilized people to change their production thinking, boldly apply scientific and technical advances, develop the economy and gradually rise out of sustainable poverty.

Mr. Ha Thanh Quyet, 68 years old, a reputable person in Doan Ket village, Dlie Ya commune, is one of the typical examples. Mr. Quyet has held the role of a reputable person for nearly 10 years. Before that, he had 14 years as village head, so he clearly understands the circumstances, life as well as the difficulties of each household in the area.
Doan Ket village currently has 365 households, mainly people of Thai, Tay and Muong ethnic groups... In previous years, the lives of many households were still difficult; agricultural production mainly relied on experience, so economic efficiency was not high.
From that reality, Mr. Quyet regularly propagates, mobilizes and guides people to invest in production development, especially planting and caring for coffee and high-value crops. He himself is also a role model in family economic development with nearly 2 hectares of coffee and durian, bringing stable income.
If you want people to trust and follow, first of all, you must set an example. When people see the effective model, they will proactively learn and change their ways of doing things to increase their income," Mr. Quyet shared.

Thanks to the propaganda and mobilization of reputable people and mutual support and assistance in the community, the lives of many households in Doan Ket village have gradually improved.
Many families have learned to invest, take care of crops according to proper techniques, improve production efficiency and rise out of poverty.

Ms. Kha Thi Li's family is one of the cases with many efforts to overcome difficulties. Ms. Li currently raises two disabled children, while her husband passed away in 2018. She herself also suffers from bone and joint diseases, so her health is not guaranteed to do heavy jobs.
Her family has about 7 sao of agricultural land. Previously, due to particularly difficult circumstances, her family was once classified as a poor household, then a near-poor household.
However, with the encouragement and support of local authorities, the sharing of reputable people in the community and her own efforts, her family has gradually stabilized their lives and escaped poverty for nearly 10 years now.

Building trust, creating motivation for economic development
In recent years, poverty reduction has always been identified by Dlie Ya commune as one of the key tasks, associated with socio-economic development goals. Thereby, improving the material and spiritual life of the people, especially ethnic minorities.
Besides effectively implementing national target programs and state support policies, one of the important factors contributing to positive changes in poverty reduction in the area is the companionship and active contribution of reputable people in villages and hamlets.
Currently, Dliê Ya commune has 25 reputable people. They are typical individuals, with many contributions and receiving the trust of the residential community. These are truly important "bridges" between the Party Committee, government and people.
At the same time, it is the core force in propaganda and mobilization of people to implement the Party's guidelines, policies, laws of the State and socio-economic development movements in the locality.
Mr. Le Phong Phu, Head of the Culture - Society Department of Dliê Ya Commune People's Committee, said that with understanding of customs, habits, life and circumstances of the people, a team of reputable people has actively propagated and mobilized people to change their thinking, ways of thinking, and ways of doing things; boldly apply scientific and technical advances to production, choose suitable crops and effectively exploit production land to increase income.
Many reputable people also directly build effective economic models, becoming role models for people to learn and follow. From "saying and doing", they have built trust, helping people boldly change production methods, promote internal strength and gradually rise up to stabilize their lives.
According to Mr. Phu, by continuing to promote the role of reputable people, Dlie Ya commune hopes to create more motivation for people, especially ethnic minorities, to change their thinking, develop production, increase income, and contribute to effectively implementing the goal of sustainable poverty reduction in the coming years.
