Lao Cai - The circulation of storms No. 10 and 11 hit consecutively, causing many major roads to collapse, sink, peel, and damage.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, the circulation of storms No. 10 and 11 caused damage to the assigned infrastructure of more than 51.7 billion VND. A series of national highways and provincial roads were cut off, nearly 15,000 m2 of the road surface was peeling and damaged.

Typically, the circulation of storm No. 10 caused serious landslides, completely losing the roadbed at Km 269+750, National Highway 32 (Tu Le commune), paralyzing this road.

Next, the circulation of storm No. 11 continued to cause a landslide of about 15,000 m3 of rock and soil from the positive slope on National Highway 70 (Phong Hai commune), burying 3 houses along the road.

On National Highway 4D, 12 serious landslides appeared and more than 14,000m2 of road surface was damaged.

Many other major traffic routes such as Provincial Roads 162, 153, 175B also had a series of landslides and flooding, causing traffic congestion.

Immediately after the natural disaster, the Department of Construction of Lao Cai province urgently directed road management and maintenance units to deploy urgent solutions. With the motto "wherever the water recedes, repair it", hundreds of workers with excavators and bulldozers have been mobilized to the maximum to the landslide hotspots.

"The damage to traffic this time is huge. We are mobilizing maximum human and material resources, working through the night with the highest goal of opening the route as soon as possible," said Mr. Bui Quoc Huong - Director of Road 1 Construction Joint Stock Company.

Not only with the drastic participation of functional units, the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters also received the cooperation and contribution of local authorities and people, especially on rural traffic routes.

In Son Luong commune, floods have damaged the road through Can Tao waterfall area, where a spillway is under construction, making it difficult for people, especially students, to travel to school. In that urgent situation, the spirit of "mutual love" of the community was strongly promoted.

The image of people carrying bamboo together, some making deposits, some making boards has really warmed everyone's hearts, proving the power of solidarity in times of trouble.

To ensure the safety of people and vehicles, especially students, we have mobilized more than 100 people in the village to volunteer to contribute and contribute to the construction of a temporary bridge made of bamboo.

After only 4 hours, the 15 m long, 2 m wide bridge was completed, making the travel of people in Nga Hai area, Vang Ngan village much more convenient and safer, said Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Luong commune.

Currently, some areas are still at risk of further landslides due to weak soil and heavy rainfall. The authorities are coordinating with local authorities to support households living nearby to temporarily relocate to a safe place.
