In March 2026, import and export activities through Kim Thanh Road International Border Gate No. II (Lao Cai) recorded a clear recovery with a total turnover of more than 132 million USD, an increase of 49% compared to the same period in 2025.
This is a positive growth in the context of border trade activities gradually recovering and expanding.

According to Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs, the main driver of growth comes from agricultural exports, in which durian continues to be a key commodity with high output and value.
In addition, import activities also maintained stability with vegetables and fruits and raw materials serving production, contributing to the balance of two-way trade.
In general, the total value of goods imported and exported through the area in the month reached more than 143 million USD, an increase of 42% compared to the previous month. This figure shows that the growth momentum comes not only from seasonal factors but also reflects the effectiveness of management solutions, creating trade facilitation in the border gate area.
Along with the increase in turnover, state budget revenue collection continued to achieve positive results. In March, revenue reached more than 121 billion VND, raising total revenue from the beginning of the year to over 306 billion VND, equivalent to 29.1% of the assigned target.
Notably, revenue in the month increased by 80% compared to the previous month, showing the clear effectiveness of measures to combat revenue loss and manage revenue sources.

In the field of state management, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs continues to maintain rapid and regulated customs clearance of goods.
Vehicle traffic diversion is deployed flexibly, prioritizing export agricultural products, thereby contributing to reducing congestion, especially during peak periods.
In parallel with creating trade facilitation, the work of preventing and combating smuggling and trade fraud has been drastically strengthened.
Since the beginning of the year, customs forces have detected and handled 30 violations, collecting more than 365 million VND for the budget.
Notably, more than 800 kg of frozen food of unknown origin were seized, promptly preventing the risk of affecting the market and consumer health.
