In the afternoon of September 21, before the serious risk of landslides at the top of Pơrlai mountain, Ga Ry Border Guard Station (Hung Son commune, Da Nang city) mobilized 25 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities to urgently evacuate 40 households, with 133 people to safe shelters.
At about 2:30 pm on September 21, Ga Ry Border Guard Station received a report from people about the appearance of many large, long and deep cracks in the Pơrlai mountain peak area, along with the situation of fallen trees. Recognizing that the risk of landslides could directly threaten households at the foot of the mountain, Ga Ry Border Guard Station immediately organized forces to inspect the scene.
Through surveys, functional forces assessed the complicated developments. 25 officers and soldiers were mobilized to the area, coordinating with local forces to propagate, mobilize and support people to evacuate from dangerous areas.
To date, 40 households with 133 people have been taken to safe shelters. Ga Ry Border Guard Station also supported 200kg of rice for families in the shelter area; and at the same time arranged military doctors to examine, dispense medicine and guide people to ensure hygiene and disease prevention in concentrated residences.
According to Ga Ry Border Guard Station, the unit's managed area currently has about 17 areas at risk of landslides. Officers and soldiers are maintaining 24/24 hour duty, monitoring weather developments and subsidence at the top of Pơrlai mountain as well as key areas, ready to deploy response and rescue plans when necessary.
