According to information from the People's Committee of Muong Hung commune, at around 10:20 a.m. the same day, people discovered a male body stuck in a alluvial plain along the Ma River, in the process of decomposing.

Immediately afterwards, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PCCC&CNCH) of Son La Provincial Police sent forces to the scene to conduct salvage and protect the scene.
The body was identified as male and did not carry any identification documents. Suspected to be a missing victim due to recent flash floods and landslides in the area. The authorities have coordinated to review the information of the missing people.
After receiving information and identification characteristics, the authorities contacted the family of Mr. Vang Chu P (Huoi Lech village, Muong Lam commune, one of the victims reported missing in the flash flood on the night of July 26) to come and identify, verify their identity and hand over to the family for funeral arrangements.
The body was floating more than 70 km from the original missing location.

Because the road from Huoi Lech village to Muong Hung commune was eroded, it was not until 5:00 p.m. the same day that the victim's family arrived and completed the procedures to request a funeral according to local customs.
