The Son La City Wastewater Drainage and Treatment System Project (now To Hieu, Chieng Sinh, Chieng Co, Chieng An wards) was decided by the People's Committee of Son La province to invest in and use ODA capital from the Federal Republic of Germany and Switzerland.
The project has a total investment of VND 932.4 billion, implemented in the period of 2012 - 2025, with a implementation period of nearly 13 years.

The project was assigned by the People's Committee of Son La province to the Provincial ODA Project Management Board as the investor. The project has been evaluated by sponsors as typical in quality and progress, and is also one of the four wastewater treatment plants applying the most advanced treatment technology in the country today.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet - Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee said that the completion and operation of the Son La City Wastewater Drainage and Treatment System project is extremely important for sustainable development and the living environment of the people.

The project is expected to bring practical and long-term benefits. In particular, reducing flooding, effectively treating urban wastewater, meeting environmental standards.
"This is also an important premise for wards in the Nam La stream area of Son La province to develop quickly, greenly and sustainably, associated with commitments on environmental protection, climate change response and sustainable development, with the highest goal of improving the quality of life of the people" - Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet affirmed.

To make the project operate effectively, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province requested the ODA Project Management Board to focus on operating the project in accordance with the approved plan and process, ensuring quality and progress as committed, and complying with the provisions of law.
The Son La City drainage and wastewater treatment system is one of 250 works and projects nationwide to be inaugurated and started to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
