For more than 1 month, people living around the manholes on the coastal road in Hung Luong residential group, Quy Nhon Dong ward (Gia Lai) have been upset because they have to live with the stench caused by domestic wastewater overflowing onto the road surface and flowing into the sea for a long time.
Recorded on July 9, at many locations of manholes, leaks occurred, domestic wastewater continuously overflowed onto the road surface, emitting a strong stench, affecting the lives of people and tourists.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hong (82 years old, residing in Hung Luong residential group) shared that this situation has been going on for a long time but has not been completely resolved, although people have reported it to the local authorities.
Afternoon is the time when wastewater spills onto the road surface the most and the stench is also the heaviest. The stench is unbearable, I hope the local authorities will soon handle it thoroughly to restore a healthy living environment to the people," Ms. Hong complained.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Viet Quang - Chairman of Quy Nhon Dong Ward People's Committee - said that to overcome the above situation, the locality has requested Binh Dinh Environment Joint Stock Company to deploy dredging and treatment of leaking wastewater overflowing onto the road surface and flowing into the sea.
According to the leader of Quy Nhon Dong Ward People's Committee, this system was initially designed to collect rainwater. However, it was later connected to more domestic wastewater to lead to the treatment station.

Receiving a large amount of wastewater causes the system to be overloaded, while the pipeline has a small cross-section and is silted up, leading to water overflowing backwards through manholes.
The entire route has 27 manholes, of which 6 manholes are leaking. Up to now, 2 locations have been repaired, and 4 points still have wastewater overflowing.

To handle it thoroughly, the locality will inspect the entire system, repair 4 remaining leak locations in the direction of expanding the cross-section of the pipeline and adjusting the curves on the collection line to improve drainage capacity and limit the recurrence of overload.
The cause of the leak is due to the excessive amount of wastewater, the system cannot meet capacity, while the pipeline is silted up. Currently, the environmental company's force is focusing on overcoming it, and it is expected to be completed in 1 week," Mr. Quang said.
