On February 7, according to Hung Yen Provincial Police, Dong Tien Hai Commune Police have just mobilized people to hand over a lost rare forest animal individual to their house, contributing to protecting biodiversity and strictly implementing the provisions of law on wildlife protection.
Specifically, Mr. Dinh Van Te (born in 1973, residing in Hung Long Nam village, Dong Tien Hai commune, Hung Yen province) reported to the Dong Tien Hai Commune Police about the discovery and arrest of a lost monkey in the family's premises. Immediately after receiving the information, the Dong Tien Hai Commune Police coordinated with officials of Cua Lan Border Guard Station, officials of the Commune Economic Department and grassroots village representatives to the scene to verify and make a record according to regulations.
Through inspection, functional forces identified the above animal as a pig-tailed macaque (scientific name Macaca leonina), weighing about 6kg, belonging to group IIB - a group of endangered, precious and rare forest animals at risk of extinction, belonging to the list protected by law.
After clarifying the origin and condition of the monkey individual, Dong Tien Hai Commune Police conducted propaganda and explained legal regulations related to wildlife protection, and at the same time mobilized Mr. Dinh Van Te and his family to voluntarily hand over the monkey individual to functional agencies for handling in accordance with regulations.
After completing the necessary procedures, the pig-tailed macaque individual was handed over and taken to the Hoang Lien Tourism and Biodiversity Conservation Center for rescue, care and management according to the provisions of law.
The fact that people proactively report and coordinate to hand over rare forest animals not only shows awareness of law compliance, but also makes an important contribution to the work of protecting wildlife, preserving biodiversity and the natural environment.
