As a result, the foot-and-mouth disease virus (serotype O) was detected in the test sample. After receiving the results, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Thanh Hoa province coordinated with local authorities and livestock owners to destroy 30 pigs of 5 households, with a weight of more than 600kg in the area where the epidemic was detected.
Along with that, the entire area in neighboring households was disinfected to prevent foot-and-mouth disease from spreading; 240 liters of chemicals, 60 sets of protective clothing, 30 pairs of boots, 1,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine, 400kg of lime, 12 liters of chemicals were provided to prevent the epidemic in this outbreak.
In addition, the local government has set up 2 checkpoints and 1 mobile team to strictly control the transportation and trading of livestock and livestock products. Organize a review of livestock herds, develop a vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease and organize vaccination to cover outbreaks from February 23, 2025.
It is known that previously, in Zone 4, Thach Binh Commune, Thach Thanh District, there was an unusually sick pig with symptoms such as: pigs with water acne on the edge of the navel, toothpick; light acting, feeding, mild fever, suspected foot-and-mouth disease.
