On December 25, 2025, the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police said that the unit had just discovered an illegal mineral exploitation case with an estimated value of more than 1 billion VND.
Previously, on December 19, 2025, the Economic Police Department successfully fought a special case involving two subjects P.M.D (born in 1966) and N.T.L (born in 1965), both residing in Khuong Ha 2 village, Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province, for illegal mineral exploitation.
The inspection results and initial evidence determined that Mr. P.M.D and Ms. N.T.L approved the licensed sand mining activities of Minh Duc Company to carry out the act of exploiting sand and gravel for common construction materials outside the permitted scope.
At the time of inspection, the authorities recorded that the amount of sand being gathered at the 2 yards was 4,585m3; in addition, the subjects confessed that they had previously exported about 1,000m3 of sand. The total volume of illegally exploited minerals is estimated at about 5,585m3, with a value of more than 1.1 billion VND.
The authorities determined that the behavior of the subjects showed signs of committing the crime of "Violating regulations on resource exploitation" under Article 227 of the Penal Code 2015, amended and supplemented in 2017.
The case is currently being further investigated and handled according to the law.
