On March 24, Hue Central Hospital successfully operated on a case of malignant bone tumor in the lower jaw for patient V.V.H. P. (14 years old, residing in Hue City).
According to the hospital, this is a complex disease at a developing age, requiring both radical treatment of cancer lesions and ensuring function and aesthetics of the maxillofacial region.
After inter-specialized consultation, the team performed tumor removal, neck lymph node dissection, mastectomy and microsurgery to regenerate the lower jawbone.
Notably, the surgery applies digital technology and 3D simulation in surgery planning, helping to improve accuracy, shorten surgery time and improve recovery ability.
By April 9, the patient was stable and recovered well; facial and maxillofacial function was ensured, biting joints met requirements, and the face was basically balanced.
Representatives of the hospital said that the success of the surgery confirmed the effectiveness of inter-specialized coordination and the ability to deploy in-depth techniques in maxillofacial surgery.
