Da Nang - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang directed Lanh Ngoc commune to urgently ensure food, clean water, and safe shelter for people.

On November 4, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang inspected the implementation of the work of overcoming the consequences of rain and floods, and visited and encouraged affected households, along with forces directly participating in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in Lanh Ngoc and Thanh Binh communes.

Due to the impact of storm No. 12, from October 25 to October 29, in Lanh Ngoc commune, there was heavy to very heavy rain, along with hydropower operation, so the downstream water level rose rapidly, causing widespread flooding, isolating some villages such as villages 14 and 15. The estimated damage to houses is more than 21 billion VND, of which 432 houses were flooded, many houses were hit by landslides causing cracks in the walls.

The entire rice field area in villages 14 and 15 of Lanh Ngoc commune was completely flooded, with about 1,000m2 of rice fields being filled. Many rice and crops after harvest were flooded. A large number of poultry and livestock died and were swept away. The total estimated damage in the whole commune as of November 3 was nearly 30 billion VND.

In Thanh Binh commune, heavy rain caused landslides in many areas, including some landslides in houses. Traffic routes were severely damaged, such as the DH2, DH5, DH7 routes; the Tien An - Tra Dong flood avoidance route; the Thanh Binh - Son Cam Ha inter-commune road; National Highway 40B section through Deo Lieu area...

Directly visiting, encouraging, and giving necessities to a number of households, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang expressed his sympathy and deeply shared the damage to property and people's lives after severe floods in the city, including Lanh Ngoc and Thanh Binh communes, where many areas were deeply flooded and landslides.

The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee also highly appreciated the proactive and decisive spirit of local Party committees, authorities, military and police forces in organizing the evacuation of people from dangerous areas and mobilizing local forces to provide timely support.

On behalf of the city's leaders to provide emergency support of 2 billion VND to Lanh Ngoc commune to solve essential needs such as food, drinking water, blankets, and warm clothes to stabilize the initial lives of the people, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang suggested that localities continue to conduct a general review and assess all damages to report to the city, paying attention to proposing immediate and long-term solutions.

For households in landslide areas, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee requested local authorities to urgently have a plan to relocate and resettle to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

"I hope that the people will continue to unite and share to soon overcome the consequences caused by the recent floods, and at the same time prepare mentally with the entire political system to focus on responding to the upcoming storm No. 13, which is forecast to be very strong, to minimize damage to people and property", Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang sent a message to the people.
