Gia Lai - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung highly appreciated the province's timely evacuation of more than 300,000 people in the face of the fierce storm, minimizing human losses.

On the evening of November 8, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and the Central working delegation visited and encouraged people in Gia Lai province after storm Kalmaegi (storm No. 13.) caused heavy damage.

At the meeting, Gia Lai province reported the preliminary damage situation: The storm killed 2 people and injured 6 others; more than 200 houses completely collapsed, 23,870 houses had their roofs blown off, 15 boats sank and 42 others were damaged. The total economic damage is estimated at more than 5,200 billion VND.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung highly appreciated the proactiveness and drastic participation of the locality. According to him, this is the largest evacuation in the province's history with more than 90,000 households and more than 300,000 people, helping to minimize human damage. He emphasized that storm No. 13 has a very complicated development, if not evacuated in time, the consequences will be very serious.

Mr. Ho Quoc Dung suggested that the province focus on overcoming infrastructure, electricity, water, transportation and supporting the restoration of production and business, while trying to achieve the highest growth rate possible. The Government will summarize the damage of localities to promptly support and share the losses of the people.

Also at the meeting, banks supported Gia Lai province with 9 billion VND to overcome the damage caused by storms and floods.
