On August 28, Hanoi City People's Committee organized the groundbreaking ceremony and inauguration of key infrastructure projects. Including the project to invest, renovate, and promote the value of the West Lake area and the scenic lakeside traffic route.
With a total estimated investment of about 30. 151 billion VND, the project is implemented according to the public-private partnership (PPP) method, a Construction - Transfer (BT) contract type implemented by Sun City Co., Ltd. (a member of Sun Group).
On a research scale of about 567.75 ha, the project maintains the current status of 520.90 ha of West Lake water surface and a land area of about 46.85 ha (including small lakes). The project focuses on embellishing and synchronously renovating the transportation system, landscape, green parks, public living space, and investing in cultural and entertainment activities.
The focus of the project is to renovate the lakeside road with a total length of about 13.5 km, creating a continuous connecting axis surrounding the lake surface through Nguyen Dinh Thi, Trich Sai, Ve Ho, Nhat Chieu streets and a part of Quang Ba, Quang Khanh, Quang An.
The road expansion was carefully and meticulously studied to avoid encroaching on existing residential areas, applying elevated bridges combined with landscape floors and pedestrian bridges extending to the lake surface, creating more space for sightseeing and walking while still preserving the characteristic winding lines of West Lake.

Along with that is the plan to form the "Greenway" green corridor, connecting throughout squares, landscape bridges, parks, relics, ancient villages, the Party Central Committee's guest house, and the Hanoi Opera House.
The project effectively exploits the water surface space through a newly invested wharf system. The control and treatment of wastewater is closely monitored to protect water quality and restore the fresh beauty to the "West Lake mirror".
People and tourists will also experience many new cultural, artistic and entertainment activities in the spirit of "Living Heritage" - Living Heritage. The cultural values of West Lake, from craft villages, festivals, cuisine to community memories, will be awakened and told in contemporary language through art programs, exhibitions, fireworks displays, music, water music, and light shows on special occasions of the Capital.
In particular, the project plays the role of a direct connection point for two strategic development space axes: the radial axis for creative urban development of West Lake - Co Loa - Gia Binh Airport opening up a new diplomatic and economic direction in the Northeast and the Thang Long Avenue/West Lake - Ba Vi axis playing the role of a knowledge economic driving axis, connecting the two cultural centers of Thang Long - Xu Doai.
Parallel to the Hoan Kiem Lake area, West Lake is shaped to become the Capital's Tourist Center, one of the four core tourism development drivers that bring Hanoi to reach the level of a famous cultural destination in the region and the world.
