On the afternoon of February 27, at the Phu Quoc Special Zone Police headquarters, An Giang Provincial Police held a meeting to assess the progress of implementing the Project to build Phu Quoc Special Zone into a "Model unit for security and urban civilization" in February 2026.
According to reports, in February 2026, professional units of the Provincial Police and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police continued to drastically and synchronously implement the tasks and solutions of the Project; closely monitoring the area, strictly managing subjects, proactively grasping the situation from the grassroots level, promptly detecting and handling incidents arising from the beginning, not allowing the formation of "hot spots" on security and order.
At the meeting, representatives of professional departments and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police frankly participated in many contributions, clarified the achieved results, and analyzed in-depth the shortcomings and limitations.
Delegates focused on proposing solutions to remove difficulties in the progress of headquarters construction, supplement staff, improve the efficiency of coordination in handling violations of land and construction order; accelerate the progress of issuing electronic identification accounts to businesses and cooperatives; strengthen measures to prevent and combat criminal, drug, and economic crimes, especially subjects with signs of gang and group formation; and at the same time propose solutions to ensure traffic order and safety, and reduce accidents in the special zone.
In the past month, the Police force has actively advised local Party committees and authorities to effectively direct the resolution of many emerging issues related to land, construction order, and conditional business activities. Absolutely ensure security and safety for Party and State leadership delegations visiting and working in localities, as well as important political, cultural and tourism events taking place in the special zone.
Besides the achieved results, the meeting also frankly pointed out some shortcomings and limitations that need to be overcome soon such as: the progress of starting construction of the Phu Quoc Special Zone Police headquarters has not met the set requirements; the staff size is still lacking compared to the assigned staff size; the issuance of electronic identification accounts to businesses and cooperatives is still limited; the traffic accident situation still has potential for complicated developments.
Concluding the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Han - Director of An Giang Provincial Police - requested units to continue to thoroughly grasp the spirit of building Phu Quoc into a "model unit" not only in terms of security and order but also in terms of demeanor, discipline, order, and cultural behavior of officers and soldiers.
The Director of An Giang Provincial Police emphasized that it is necessary to clearly define the responsibility of the head; focus on thoroughly overcoming the limitations that have been pointed out; accelerate the progress of works and projects serving the work; proactively prevent and strongly attack and suppress crimes, especially organized crime, drug crime, and economic crime.
Improving the efficiency of state management of security and order, ensuring urban order and traffic safety, contributing to maintaining political stability, ensuring social order and safety, creating a solid foundation for Phu Quoc to develop sustainably, worthy of being a high-quality tourism and service center.
