On the evening of December 15, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee went to the landslide area on National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass (connecting Nha Trang - Da Lat) to direct support for people trapped by the landslide.
Khanh Le Pass is the border between Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces. Currently, prolonged rain has caused many landslides on Khanh Le Pass, completely cutting off traffic from Nha Trang to Da Lat and vice versa.
According to preliminary reports, there are currently more than 200 people trapped in the Khanh Le Pass area in Lam Dong province. Meanwhile, there are more than 30 people trapped in the Khanh Hoa Province section.
The Chairman of Khanh Hoa province directly directed the military force to go through the forest and approach landslide sites to support and bring tourists stuck on the pass down.
Access is made at night to ensure visitor safety.
Khanh Hoa province leaders contacted Lam Dong province leaders directly by phone to coordinate the rescue of groups of people trapped on the pass.
Earlier that afternoon, dozens of cadres, militia and police officers walked and climbed ropes to reach the landslide site. At the scene, authorities provided instant noodles, mineral water, cakes and lunch boxes to those trapped.
Currently, the health of the stranded tourists is stable. However, moving down the pass is quite difficult due to the complex terrain and heavy rains that pose a risk of landslides at any time.
