By the afternoon of October 31, the rain had stopped in Quang Binh province and the water level in the rivers had dropped. People had cleaned up their houses and roads as the water receded.
Vinasarcom and the Civil Defense Command of Quang Binh province said that floods caused by storm No. 6 (Tra Mi) have killed 7 people and injured 7 others in the area.
The dead and injured were mainly concentrated in Le Thuy district, Quang Ninh and Dong Hoi city.
In the whole province, 9,290 households had to be evacuated, and 34,488 households' houses were flooded. 84 schools were affected, including 486 classrooms flooded. About 10km of roads were eroded and damaged; over 3,030m3 of land was eroded. More than 790ha of crops and vegetables were damaged. The initial total damage is estimated at over 500 billion VND.
Localities are making efforts to overcome the damage caused by the floods. People and authorities are focusing on cleaning and disinfecting the environment to ensure hygiene and health for the people.
