On July 22, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held a working session with relevant departments, branches and localities on site clearance for the North-South high-speed railway project, the section passing through the province.
According to the plan, the railway line passing through Quang Tri is more than 190km long, using about 1,865 hectares of land, directly affecting 7,277 households and more than 21,000 graves. The entire line is expected to have 2 main passenger stations in Dong Son ward and Nam Dong Ha ward; 4 maintenance stations and other auxiliary works.
Quang Tri province plans to build 51 resettlement areas and 28 cemeteries to serve relocation, with a total cost for site clearance of up to VND 17,064 billion.
A representative of the Department of Construction said that most of the locality has determined the location, collected people's opinions and is making detailed plans for resettlement areas, preparing to start construction from August 19.
However, the implementation process still has many problems such as: slow handover of site clearance markers, difficulties in converting land use purposes, problems with procedures for land price differences after administrative merger...
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized that this is a national key project, requiring localities to absolutely not be subjective or delayed.
He requested units and localities to speed up the progress of planning and approving resettlement areas; have plans to allocate capital for each specific item for the province to report to the Ministry of Finance and the Government; soon have specific instructions on converting land use purposes, handling environmental issues related to resettlement areas and cemetery areas, ensuring the rights of the people.
