On July 5, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Tri province said that the unit is advising the Department of Agriculture and Environment on a plan to allocate disinfectants and disinfectants to communes with African swine fever.
Immediately upon receiving the report from the locality, the Center sent veterinary staff to each livestock household for initial diagnosis, guidance on destruction measures, environmental treatment and coordination in implementing solutions to control outbreaks.
According to the assessment, although the authorities have widely promoted on the media, many small-scale livestock farming households are still subjective and have not effectively applied biosecurity measures such as hygiene and disinfection, quarantine of disease-prone livestock and increased quarantine.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, from May 28 to now, African swine fever has appeared in 21 villages in 6 communes including Kim Phu, Tan Thanh, Phong Nha, Quang Trach, Tan Gianh and Dong Le. The total number of pigs forced to be destroyed is up to 451 with a weight of nearly 28 tons.
Notably, Phong Nha commune is a hot spot when the epidemic broke out in 37 livestock households in 9 villages. Currently, localities with epidemics have not yet passed the 21-day deadline, the risk of spreading continues to be very high.
The veterinary industry recommends that people proactively clean, disinfect barns, isolate sick pigs, and promptly notify authorities to implement measures to prevent and control epidemics.
