On July 19, Lai Chau Provincial Police said that at about 4 am on the same day, National Highway 12 section from Lai Ha to the center of Le Loi commune (old Chan Nua commune) was opened to traffic after a period of interruption due to landslides.
Previously, prolonged heavy rain caused serious landslides on National Highway 12 at Km76+250, passing through Le Loi commune. The incident completely broke the roadbed and surface, causing traffic on the route to be cut off.
Immediately after the landslide occurred, functional units mobilized manpower, vehicles and machinery to urgently deploy remedial work, in order to soon restore traffic on the route.
Along with that, the Lai Chau Provincial Department of Construction has organized traffic diversion and guidance for vehicles to circulate along alternative routes to ensure safety during the time when National Highway 12 cannot be circulated.
According to the temporary traffic diversion plan, the travel distance from the center of Lai Chau province to Dien Bien and vice versa increased by about 93-245 km compared to the normal route before the landslide occurred.
