National Highway 51 repairs roads, traffic jams stretch for many kilometers

Dong Nai - National Highway 51 is seriously congested, stretching for many kilometers due to road repairs and toll station dismantling.

According to reporters of Lao Dong newspaper, at noon on April 18th on National Highway 51 in the direction from Vung Tau (HCMC) to Bien Hoa, the section of National Highway 51 intersecting with Phung Hung street was congested for a long time, vehicles had to move little by little, many sections were almost standing still.

The section passing toll station T1 on National Highway 51 (Tam Phuoc ward, Dong Nai province) is seriously congested, especially the section in front of Tam Phuoc Industrial Park gate. According to reporters' records, road repairs are underway in this area, causing vehicles to be congested here for many kilometers.

In addition, toll station T1 on National Highway 51 is being dismantled, making the congestion situation even more serious.

On National Highway 51, there are many heavily damaged points being repaired such as the area of National Highway 51 intersecting with Nam Cao road, National Highway 51 section in front of Tam Phuoc Industrial Park gate and National Highway 51 intersecting with Phung Hung road, the contractor is barricading to construct, causing traffic congestion, many vehicles have to turn around or find other ways to escape traffic jams.

According to local people, congestion has appeared since National Highway 51 began to be repaired and is seriously congested during rush hour in the late afternoon.

According to the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Construction, the repair items on National Highway 51 are implemented according to the decision of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee on the road infrastructure maintenance plan for the period 2025-2026. All repair work is aimed at completing the traffic safety system according to standards from road markings, signs to medians.

A representative of the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province said that the repair will last until mid-May 2026.

National Highway 51, more than 70 km long, is a vital traffic route connecting Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster. National Highway 51 is also the main axis connecting Long Thanh airport, expected to be put into operation at the end of 2026.

Also on the morning of April 18, toll station T1 (Tam Phuoc ward) and toll station T2 (Long Phuoc commune) on National Highway 51 are being dismantled, vehicles moving slowly.
