Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal reported that on the morning of August 21, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province Nguyen Thanh Dieu had a working session, listening to reports on the situation and solutions to overcome landslides in the Tien River embankment area in Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district (now Thuong Phuoc commune).

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu emphasized the urgency of the landslide situation and requested departments and branches to closely coordinate, urgently invest in advance, immediately and urgently to overcome landslides. Currently, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a document on putting the landslide area into an emergency situation, therefore, requiring Departments, branches and localities to urgently implement assigned tasks.
In particular, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to review the province's reserve funds to urgently handle the landslide area; coordinate with the Department of Construction and relevant sectors to advise and report to the Central Government on investment in the landslide area emergency and the contingency for the entire embankment to make timely proposals.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment will review existing material mines, thereby proposing appropriate exploitation plans to promptly serve emergency projects.

The People's Committee of Thuong Phuoc commune is required to urgently deploy measures to ensure absolute safety for people in the area; organize propaganda and warn people about the risk of landslides; check and review the traffic system and ferry terminals; coordinate with businesses operating in the landslide area to agree on a plan to build temporary roads to ensure production.
