Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal reported that, in response to the landslides and subsidence of the Tien River bank in the Khe An Thoi Tien area, Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district (now in Thuong Phuoc commune), the Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing the Departments: Finance, Construction, Agriculture and Environment; Provincial Police; Dong Thap Provincial Project Management Board and Thuong Phuoc Commune People's Committee.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently coordinate with the Department of Finance, the Department of Construction, the People's Committee of Thuong Phuoc commune and relevant agencies and units to survey, assess the situation, level of natural disasters, and advise the Provincial People's Committee to decide to apply necessary response measures to minimize damage in accordance with the provisions of the law on Natural Disaster Prevention.
The Department must also coordinate with relevant agencies and units to survey and assess the risk of dangerous situations at vulnerable locations along the embankment, proactively consult with specialized units and experts to urgently deploy necessary measures to limit landslides and subsidence that may arise while waiting for solutions to handle the foundation.
Along with that is the strengthening of urging consulting units to speed up the progress of surveying, evaluating, and proposing solutions to overcome subsidence and landslides of the Tien Riverbank Embankment project in Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district; urgently reviewing and collecting all relevant documents, papers, and documents for the Tien Riverbank Embankment project in Thuong Thoi Tien town to be ready to provide to specialized agencies to determine the cause of landslides when required.
For the Department of Construction, the Provincial People's Committee assigned to urgently preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to conduct inspections and install buoys and warning signs for the water area, prohibiting watercraft from circulating to minimize impacts that pose a risk of unsafety.
The Department of Construction studies and advises the Provincial People's Committee on the legal basis, process, procedures, and necessity to organize an assessment of the causes of landslides and subsidence of the Tien River bank under the Tien Riverbank Anti-Ederosion Embankment project in Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district in accordance with the provisions of the law on construction management and relevant legal regulations.
The Department of Finance shall preside over and coordinate with the above departments to study, advise and propose to the Provincial People's Committee a source of funding to overcome temporary subsidence and fundamental, long-term solutions according to the provisions of budget law and current relevant legal provisions.
