In mid-March, the new resettlement land of Chung Chai B village is bustling with the sound of concrete mixers, the sound of hammering and the sound of people calling each other to move materials.
Mr. Vang Seo Pao - one of the households that has left the landslide area, preparing to build a new house - confided: "In the old place, after the heavy rain, the soil behind the house cracked open. Lying down at night and hearing the sound of landslides, I was very worried. Having a new, safer place to live, my family tried to complete the accommodation to move down before the rainy and flood season.
Chúng Chải B is a difficult village located near the border area. After the impact of storm No. 3 in 2024 and heavy rains in recent times, the hillside behind the residential area has appeared many long cracks, posing a high risk of landslides.

Faced with the risk of insecurity, local authorities have urgently implemented a project to arrange and stabilize residents, and relocate households in dangerous areas to new residences.
According to the plan, the resettlement area has an area of about 1.7ha, allocated residential land and essential infrastructure system for people to stabilize for a long time.
Mr. Luu Duc Manh - Head of the Economic Department of Muong Khuong commune - said that the project aims to arrange accommodation for 26 households located in areas at risk of landslides.
The locality has completed the subdivision of plots, drawing lots and determining land locations for each household. People are starting to build houses to soon move to new places of residence," Mr. Manh said.

It is known that each household is allocated a land plot of about 180m2. Infrastructure in the resettlement area is invested quite synchronously with an internal road more than 320m long, a road surface 5m wide, drainage system, lighting, domestic water supply and transformer station.
In addition, this area will also build community activity houses to serve cultural activities and meetings of people after settling down.
According to the design, the entire resettlement area has about 45 land plots, of which 26 plots are arranged for households to urgently relocate, and the rest is reserved for future population arrangement needs.
At the new land area, many families have started transporting bricks, sand, and cement to build houses. Some households plan to start construction in February of the lunar calendar to be able to move to new places before the rainy season.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Hung, Chairman of Muong Khuong Commune People's Committee, said that the locality sets a goal to complete the relocation of households before the end of April.
We are coordinating with professional departments and agencies to support people to complete procedures and remove difficulties in the housing construction process, so that people can soon stabilize their lives," Chairman of Muong Khuong Commune People's Committee informed.
