Hanoi - Noi Bai Airport applies a new traffic diversion plan, adjusting the positions for picking up and dropping off passengers and the parking area.

From 7:00 AM on August 3rd, Noi Bai International Airport will coordinate with the Border Gate Police to deploy a new traffic diversion plan in the area approaching passenger terminals T1 and T2.

According to the new plan, many contents related to passenger pick-up and drop-off positions, lane separation and vehicle stopping and parking times at Noi Bai airport are adjusted to reduce congestion, limit traffic conflicts and optimize the space of the terminal area.

The plan is implemented simultaneously at two terminals T1 and T2, including adjusting the access road system to the terminal, reorganizing the passenger pick-up and drop-off area on the floors, and re-planning the function of car parking lots from P1 to P9.

Notably, the pick-up and drop-off positions and lane separation methods are organized according to each vehicle group, including private cars, technology cars, franchise taxis, transport business vehicles, buses and vehicles serving port operations.

In the lobby to the 1st floor of terminal T2, the traffic area is organized into 6 lanes for each vehicle group.

Private cars with fewer than 9 seats, priority cars, franchise taxis, public buses, shuttle buses and flight crew pick-up cars are arranged with separate operating areas.

Meanwhile, transport business vehicles are not licensed by Noi Bai International Airport and vehicles with 9 seats or more are not allowed to pick up passengers in the traffic lanes in front of the terminal. These vehicles must move according to the prescribed route or into the correctly arranged parking lot.

At the 3rd floor lobby of terminal T2, the Port arranges a fixed median strip to separate vehicle flows in the direction of approach from Nhat Tan bridge and Thang Long bridge.

This area is divided into 5 traffic lanes. Vehicles are only allowed to stop and drop off passengers for a maximum of 5 minutes and drivers are not allowed to leave the vehicle more than 2m away.

In the lobby to the 1st floor of terminal T1, traffic lanes are organized separately for private cars, franchise taxis, priority cars, cars with 9 seats or more and business transport vehicles.

Unfranchised business vehicles under 9 seats and vehicles from 9 seats or more must pick up passengers at parking lot P2 according to a separate route, and are not allowed to enter the pick-up hall area.

For private cars with fewer than 9 seats, passengers are picked up in area P1. The maximum stop time for picking up passengers is 5 minutes.

At the 2nd floor lobby of terminal T1, the Port arranges a hard median strip and organizes 4 traffic lanes, separating vehicles in the direction of approach from Nhat Tan bridge and Thang Long bridge.

Business vehicles for transportation under 9 seats are not allowed to enter the lanes for the direction of Nhat Tan bridge. Meanwhile, vehicles from 9 seats or more are not allowed to enter the lanes for the direction of Thang Long bridge.

Vehicles dropping off passengers in this area are also only allowed to stop for a maximum of 5 minutes and drivers are not allowed to leave the vehicle more than 2m away.

Along with the adjustment of lane separation, Noi Bai International Airport re-plans the function of parking lots from P1 to P9.

Parking lots are divided into groups of vehicles, including transport business vehicles, private vehicles, vehicles of units operating at the port, vehicles with 9 seats or more, priority vehicles and motorbikes.

The reorganization aims to improve the efficiency of parking lot operation, reduce conflicts between vehicle flows and limit congestion in the airport area.

Noi Bai International Airport recommends passengers and drivers to proactively update official instructions before arriving at the airport; and at the same time comply with regulations on lane separation, pick-up and drop-off positions and stopping and parking times according to the new traffic organization plan.

Understanding the new regulations will help passengers be more proactive in their travel, limiting the situation of stopping and parking in the wrong position or having to move around in the station area.
