On October 22, the Bomb Destruction Steering Committee of Van Yen district, Yen Bai province informed: At about 11:00 a.m. on October 18, the family of Mr. Tran Van Hoa (born in 1955, Phu Lam village, Lam Giang commune) discovered a bomb while leveling the house floor and reported it to the People's Committee of Lam Giang commune.
Upon receiving the news, the Van Yen District Military Command directed the Lam Giang Commune Military Command to take over and protect the scene.
Through verification, this is a bomb dropped during the war against the North in 1968 - 1970, the shell is rusty, 0.23m in diameter, about 1.1m long, and weighs about 130kg.
Immediately after determining the weight and size of the bomb, the Van Yen District Bomb Disposal Steering Committee developed a plan and held a meeting to deploy the destruction plan.
The Steering Committee directed the district military force and Lam Giang commune militia to transport the bomb on a 7km inter-village road by car and carry it on foot to a well-blocked ravine in Phuc Linh village, Lam Giang commune to detonate it.
The bomb detonation site was dug in an uninhabited area and was 1km from the nearest house after the block. Up to now, the detonation has been carried out safely.
