According to Lao Dong reporter, at 7:00 a.m. on September 30, despite the rain in Do Son area, many people and tourists still flocked to the central stadium, waiting to watch the final round of the famous buffalo fighting festival in Hai Phong sea area. Before the opening ceremony, most of the stands were full.
Taking a walk from 5am in Tran Hung Dao Ward (old Chi Linh) to attend the buffalo fighting festival, Mr. Phung Dinh Thao said: "Every year, I go with my friends to watch the Do Son buffalo fighting festival. More specifically, this year, Hai Phong and Hai Duong merged, I am even more excited to attend the festival, a cultural beauty of the homeland of Hai Phong".
The Do Son buffalo fighting festival is a traditional folk festival that has existed for a long time, preserving the spiritual activities and cultural identity of the community of the people of the Do Son coastal area. The final match of the festival takes place on the 9th of the 8th lunar month every year. Before entering the final match, 16 buffaloes from Do Son and Nam Do Son wards passed 3 rounds of quality inspection, ensuring the physical strength and safety of the buffaloes.
This year, the Organizing Committee also adjusted the prize level for the buffaloes that won prizes in the festival with the first prize of 100 million VND (increased by 30 million VND), the second prize of 70 million VND (increased by 30 million VND), the third prize of 30 million (increased by 10 million VND/tournament).
Due to the limited capacity of the stadium, to avoid overload and ensure safety, the Organizing Committee continues to arrange a larger LED screen and in a more convenient location outside the stadium to meet the enjoyment needs of visitors coming to the festival but cannot enter the stadium to watch live.
