On November 16, according to information from the Southern Expressway Project Management Board, the construction package of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway overpass crossing National Highway 51 is expected to start at the end of December 2024.
The 54.7 km Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway starts at the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway and Ring Road 3, and ends at the National Highway 51 intersection.
However, to match the infrastructure development, in the completion phase, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway will be extended to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway to synchronize the Southeast region's traffic network and facilitate connection to Long Thanh airport.
According to the original design, the National Highway 51 intersection (Km 57+600) was built as a diamond intersection at the same level. However, when the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway was built, this intersection was upgraded to an overpass over National Highway 51, then directly connected to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway. The estimated capital for implementation is nearly 1,000 billion VND.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is one of the national key traffic projects. When completed, the project will contribute to connecting inter-regional traffic in the West, the Southeast region, Ho Chi Minh City area with Long Thanh airport through the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway.
Also according to the Southern Expressway Project Management Board, more than 7 km of Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway from Phuoc An Port intersection to National Highway 51 bordering Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is about to be temporarily opened for traffic, expected in November 2024.
