Anxiety about landslides
On July 8, according to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Ngan Mo riverbank (also known as Rao Cai River) section passing through Tay Thanh and Cam Thanh villages of Cam Binh commune has many landslide sections, the riverbank is close to the livestock area of many households.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Thanh (76 years old, residing in Tay Thanh village) said that the Ngan Mo riverbank behind his house was heavily eroded from the historic flood in 2020. The erosion situation continues every rainy and flood season every year. Up to now, the riverbank has eroded, narrowing the family's livestock area by about 4 m compared to before.
Next to Mr. Thanh's house, the livestock area of Mr. Bien Van Hai's family and Mr. Nguyen Trong Cong's family was also eroded and damaged, lying precariously on the riverbank.

According to people, along the Ngan Mo River section passing through Tay Thanh village, there are still many landslide points, causing garden land of dozens of households to shrink. The incident makes them worried and find many ways to prevent landslides.
In Cam Thanh village, the Ngan Mo riverbank erosion also approached the livestock area of many households.
Ms. Duong Thi Hong (67 years old, residing in Cam Thanh village) said that after decades of living, the Ngan Mo riverbank behind her house has eroded many meters. In which, Ms. Hong's family's garden land alone has been eroded and flowed into the river with a width of about 3 m.
“Previously, outside my family's garden, there was also a dirt road for people to travel and cultivate. But over time, landslides have dragged both the road and part of my garden land into the river,” Ms. Hong shared.

Living next to Mrs. Hong's house, Mr. Duong Danh Hoi's family (68 years old) is also worried every rainy and flood season.
Mr. Hoi said that to prevent landslides, he used to plant a row of bamboo trees. However, the bamboo bushes have also been landslides and slid down into the river, and his family's garden land has been narrowed by about 3m.
Hoping for a landslide prevention embankment project
Mr. Duong Danh Hoi (resident of Cam Thanh village) said that his family has 4 sons. He planned to divide the land for his children to build houses, but none of them came to receive the land, just determined to build houses elsewhere.
The children said that their parents' land was eroded and gradually narrowed, and in the rainy season, floods were flooded nearly 2 meters deep, so they didn't dare to live there," Mr. Hoi recounted.
Mr. Duong Danh Hoi, Ms. Duong Thi Hong, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thanh... all hope that the authorities at all levels will allocate budget to implement the riverbank erosion prevention embankment project to prevent erosion, narrow land and reduce the risk of property damage to people.

Every year during the rainy season, when floods come, I am very worried and uneasy. Afraid that landslides will damage houses and endanger lives. Therefore, we earnestly hope for a river embankment project so that we can feel secure in living and settling down," shared Mr. Nguyen Trong Thanh (resident of Tay Thanh village).

On July 8, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tri - Head of the Economic Department of Cam Binh commune said that regarding the landslide situation of the Ngan Mo River through the commune, the locality has inspected and proposed to higher levels to survey and assess the extent of landslides to allocate budget to implement the landslide prevention embankment project.
